About This Site
Caribbean Indigenous and Endangered Languages

This is a website that gives authoritative and reliable information about the indigenous and endangered languages of the Caribbean.

The site began focusing on the indigenous languages of the Caribbean. It was broadened to include endangered maroon and creole languages of the region.

Detailed information is available for the specially featured languages, namely Arawak (Lokono) of Guyana, Garífuna of Belize, Kromanti of Jamaica, Saramaccan of Suriname and Berbice Dutch of Guyana.  Basic information can be accessed via the languages and countries listed.  We are working to expand our coverage.
